We invite applications for a Programme Director to develop and lead CFI's growing programme on AI: Futures And Responsibility. The appointment will be for five years. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution in a field that is likely to be one of the most important of our time.
The Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (CFI) is a highly interdisciplinary centre addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence (AI). Funded by the Leverhulme Trust for ten years, CFI is based at the University of Cambridge, with partners in the University of Oxford, Imperial College, and UC Berkeley, and close links with industry and policymakers.
The Programme Director for AI: Futures And Responsibility is a new position at Principal Research Associate grade. The appointee will give strategic direction to this core pillar of CFI's work, collaborate in setting the strategic direction of the Centre, and provide leadership for a suite of projects (including, supervising early-career researchers, raising funds, representing CFI, etc.) The appointee may be required to assist with undergraduate or graduate courses in responsible AI or related areas.
We are seeking candidates who are internationally-recognised scholars in a field related to the responsible development of AI, and who have experience in developing and leading research projects and programmes in the area. They should be able to engage successfully with a broad range of stakeholders at very senior levels. We expect the appointee to have global ambition and reach, and corresponding organisational, communication and network-building skills.
