Adrian Melillo

Visiting Student


Adrian Melillo is a visiting student from The Australian National University where he is studying a Master in Applied Cybernetics. In addition he holds degrees in Law and Anthropology from the University of Sydney. Professionally, Adrian has a long career working in technology in executive positions ranging from large multinationals to mature startups. He has a track record of helping companies understand the opportunities and risks associated with new technologies and has written and spoken widely on these subjects.

His research interests currently focus on the governance and assurance of intelligent systems and our preparedness as a society for the use of these systems. This involves an analysis of the adequacy of democratic institutions to craft suitable regulatory and governance safeguards, as well as the ability of non-technical actors to make informed decisions on whether these are being adhered to.
