Brittany Smith

Biography

Brittany Smith is the Manager of the AI2050 program at Schmidt Futures, a philanthropic initiative to support globally, socially beneficial AI. Prior to joining Schmidt Futures, Brittany was the Policy Director at Data & Society Research Institute, an independent nonprofit institute studying the social implications of data and automation. Brittany led the organization’s first policy engagement team, using sociotechnical research to advance equity and justice within technology policy and governance spaces. Brittany also worked at Google and DeepMind for 10 years in a range of public policy, government affairs, and human rights roles in both London and San Francisco. She graduated from both Northwestern University and the London School of Economics.
