Andrew Snyder-Beattie

Research Exercise Leader


Andrew Snyder-Beattie is the Director of Research at the Future of Humanity Institute (FHI), University of Oxford, and serves as the horizon scanning coordinator at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence. He formerly led a research collaboration between the Oxford Martin School and Amlin plc, overseeing a team of four researchers.  Before serving as director of research, Andrew was a project manager at FHI, responsible for fundraising, recruitment, and outreach.  While at FHI, he raised over $3.5m in research funding, advised governments and foreign ministries on artificial intelligence policy, and wrote editorials for the Guardian, Ars Technica, and the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists which in total have received over 750,000 readers.  He holds a master's degree in biomathematics.
