Umang Bhatt

Biography

Umang is currently a doctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge in the Machine Learning Group within the Department of Engineering. His interests broadly lie in interpretable machine learning, adversarial robustness, and human-AI teams. Prior to joining Cambridge, Umang worked on conversational agents in Azure at Microsoft and dynamic pricing algorithms for personalization at Groupon. Umang has a background in AI for infrastructure, working on a startup that used citizens’ smartphones to detect potholes and assess road conditions at scale on behalf of city governments. Currently, Umang is a Research Fellow at the Partnership on AI, where he explores how organizations use explainable machine learning at scale. Umang holds an MS and BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
