Biography
Jo Reilly is a Visiting Scholar at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence. She will be considering how exploitative criminal business models and markets might evolve and emerge in response to opportunities offered by AI and associated technologies. The aim of this project is to support government and law enforcement officials to better understand how organised crime groups might use AI and associated technologies to identify, access and exert coercive control over vulnerable people.
Her previous roles include Head of the Serious Organised Crime Unit in His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service, Senior Adviser in the Prime Minister’s Implementation Unit, and Public Affairs Adviser to the Archbishop of Canterbury. Prior to joining the Civil Service, Jo was a Frank Knox Fellow at Harvard University, where she studied Religion and Politics. Jo was also a Policy Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering, looking at applying systems thinking to efforts to tackle child criminal exploitation; a Churchill Fellow, looking at effective support services for individuals who have experienced sexual abuse; and a Policy Fellow at Cambridge's Centre for Science and Policy, focussed on Serious and Organised Crime.
