Raphael Hernandes

Research Assistant

Biography

Raphael Hernandes is a part-time research assistant working on the intersection between AI and journalism. 

He is currently pursuing an MPhil in the Ethics of AI, Data, and Algorithms at the University of Cambridge, where his work focuses on AI's relationship with the information environment and the news ecosystem. He has a decade-long background in journalism, having worked as a data analyst, reporter, and editor-at-large at some of Brazil's most important news outlets, writing about technology/society issues. Raphael has also managed projects that applied data and AI in the newsroom. He runs the project Privacy for Journalists in Brazil, which focuses on raising cybersecurity awareness among reporters.
